Anita Bennett started Sunset Bay Candy Company to provide businesses with a unique and memorable option to connect and build relationships. Working many years in the corporate world, Anita found that as life was moving faster, it was becoming extremely difficult to find a truly special business gift that was genuine and meaningful.

Hi Anita, thank you for joining us! So, please tell us your story and how this “sweet” company of yours got started.
I have always loved to bake and make goodies in my kitchen to give to friends and family for holidays, gatherings or just little thinking-of-you gifts. But when I saw that gift giving was becoming so commercialized and disconnected, my husband, Marv, and I decided to bring back the authentic connections of years past. That was the beginning of Sunset Bay Candy. We started by offering our family’s handmade toffee and soon expanded to other delicious homestyle candies and sweet treats. Our vision is to offer candies that are handmade from the heart to bring back authentic and memorable connections. We believe our ability to recreate those meaningful gifts combined with impeccable customer service has made us the success we are today.
Sunset Bay Candy’s signature toffees, barks and nuts are still handmade with the same love and care of years ago. And, we’ve added a custom Made-to-Order line including chocolate dipped Oreos, pretzels and our now famous little bites of heaven, Candy Cakes.
Sunset Bay Candy is a member of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, and the Vista Chamber of Commerce. We were the recipient of the 2019 My San Diego North County Finest Sweets and Desserts Award, as well as the 2020-21 Alignable Local Businessperson of the Year award. We are especially honored to be recognized as a finalist of the 2020 Heroes of Vista Award for service to our community.
