Primary Funding’s Core Values in Action

February 28, 2023

For over 27 years, we’ve held firm to the core values our founder, Pat Burns, instilled in the firm that center around ethics and personalized service. As we’ve refined those values over the years, they’ve become the guiding principles that have helped keep us on track, grow, and better serve our clients and community. So let’s explore our core values and how we’re committed to upholding them among our team, clients, and the neighborhoods we serve.

Be Truthful

We take pride in the reputation we’ve built of being dedicated to straightforward, ethical guidance. We want to help businesses grow, period. With this value of integrity in mind, we’ve developed our team culture, business practices, and foundation for client interactions. You can also see it in our clearcut financing terms, pricing, and contracts. Using easy-to-understand, relatable language, we work hard to ensure our clients know there are no surprises or hidden agendas. With total transparency, we can focus on helping businesses find the assistance they need without creating further financial burdens or stress.

Continuous Improvement

Education and growth are distinctive components that have made up our firm and helped us persevere in the industry. We are committed to honing our skills and practice, developing partnerships that can help us be better, and providing resources to the business owners we serve. We want to empower and equip our clients with the tools and support they need for continued progress. We demonstrate this value in numerous ways. For example, we host several networking events a year to maintain strong connections to the business community and provide expert insight through resource centers and events targeting business owners.

This call for continuous improvement is also reflected in our charitable outreach and support for organizations enriching our community. For example, Fernando Ponce, our Business Development Officer, sits on the board of the Chicano Federation, which has a mission to provide equitable opportunities for underserved families in San Diego. Possibilities are abundant when we work together and drive toward a common goal of being better and better.

Be Respectful

We treat our clients, professional partners, and team members how we want to be treated: with respect. We lead with this value when learning about our clients’ unique situations so we can provide a clear outline of solutions tailored specifically to their needs without judgment. This principle has helped us develop a network of strategic partnerships within the business and banking communities. Most of our business comes from referrals from these groups, which understand their clients will be in good hands and treated with dignity.

Embrace Change for the Sake of Progress

We’re not afraid of change, and in fact we welcome it for the sake of progress. It’s most evident in our client relationships, where we choose to stay curious so we can create creative solutions based on individual circumstances. No two situations or businesses are the same, so we embrace how we can innovate and serve each client resourcefully without falling into all-or-nothing thinking.

This adaptable approach is also how we expand our team and professional network for added diversity, skills, and strengths we may have yet to consider. We echo this attitude in our community involvement. We want to be part of positive change by helping volunteer, fundraise, and support the teams doing worthwhile work. We want the businesses we serve, our teams, and our neighbors to be the best they can be, which may come with flexibility, change, and new chapters.
